I saw the postings from Sep3 and not the VMware doc

Installing VMware Tools in a NetWare Virtual Machine
1. Power on the virtual machine.
2. Prepare your virtual machine to install VMware Tools.
Choose File > Install VMware Tools.
The remaining steps take place inside the virtual machine.
3. Load the CD9660.NSS driver so the CD-ROM device mounts the ISO image
as a volume. In the system console, type
LOAD CD9660.NSS
4. When the driver finishes loading, you can begin installing VMware
Tools. In the system console, type
vmwtools:\setup.ncf
5. Restart the guest operating system. In the system console, type
restart server

Problem is that 4.11 does not have CD9660.NSS

I tried
LOAD CDROM.NLM
it loaded but said
No CD-ROM devices registered with Netware

The configuration is Workstation 5.0 using Legacy mode so I can run it on
GSX Server 3.0

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks
Archie

BTW for anyone interested, I used Portlocks new (Oct 17) P2V stuff.
www.portlock.com
It works.
So far all I had to do after Portlock did its bit was:
1. In startup.ncf change the disk driver to
LOAD c:\nwserver\IDEDATA.HAM port=1F0 int=E
(VMware "recommended" IDE instead of SCSI BusLogic or SCSI LSIlogic)

2. In autoexec.ncf change the network driver
LOAD PCNTNW slot=3 frame=Ethernet_802.3
BIND IPX to PCNTNW net=73

A 30Gb Novell system transferred via TCP/IP from the old server machine to
the new VM in under an hour.

It's been a while since I ran 4.11 in a VM, but you might try running
NW4-IDLE.NLM instead of the VMware tools (I don't know if they'll run on
4.x or not). I always used the NW4-IDLE.NLM module, because when I was
running 4.x under VMware, it pre-dated the VMware tools for NetWare.

MUCH appreciate your tip, Jim.

I found NW4-IDLE.NLM on
http://public.planetmirror.com/pub/vmware/software/support
I downloaded it, and like magic, the performance on the server doubled (my
benchmarks times got cut in half).
